Pale brown heartwood and almost white sapwood. Moderately heavy hard strong and tough with moderately high shock resistance good dimensional stability and poor decay resistance. The heartwood is a light brown color though darker shades can also be seen. Generally straight grained with a coarse texture.

White ash hardwood plywood in full 48 x 96 sheets. 1 4 thickness is good on one side b 4 grade 3 4 thickness is good on two sides b 2 grade the 48 x96 4 x8 size sheets are sold at a minimum of 5 sheets. Not always clearly or sharply demarcated from heartwood. Sapwood can be very wide and tends to be a beige or light brown.

It can vary in color from a lighter gray brown to a darker black and brown.
